Be an Inspiration to Others! Part II

You can inspire others.

In a previous post, we shared some thoughts about what it might look like for you to “be an inspiration.”  An inspirational person is one who fills someone with the urge or ability to do something. You must be a leader, and you must love and care for others.  In that post, we shared some thoughts on the first aspect of being an inspiration – leadership.   To be a leader, you can confidently be uncommon, different, and rare.

While being a leader is very important to be an inspiration, love and care for others also make a huge impact on the way you inspire others. To be able to inspire more intensely, you must really want people to succeed, and that desire for their success comes from love and care for the other person and their future.  Also, remember that others always come before yourself. If you have love and care for the people that follow you, then you will have a genuine desire for them to reach their full potential.  An inspirational person should have that loving and caring desire for others.

Inspiration can happen anywhere:  at school, on a sports team, at work, at home  . . . wherever you are, there are endless opportunities to inspire someone else. Basketball player Kobe Bryant summed it up perfectly when he said, “The most important thing is to try and inspire people, so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.”

Anyone can be an inspiration to others, it just takes leadership, love, care, and a desire to help others reach their full potential . . . attributes that anyone can have if they choose to embrace them.  So, we want to challenge each of you, will YOU inspire?  Will YOU be a leader?  Will YOU love and care for others?  Will you BE AN INSPIRATION?

Be an Inspiration to Others! Part I

George Washington. Mother Teresa. Harriet Tubman. Billy Graham. Martin Luther King. What significant quality do these people all have in common?

Well, they have many of the same great attributes, but the one we want to focus on today is that they had and have the ability to inspire others. They did and, still, are inspiring others.

YOU can inspire others too.

What might it look like for you to “be an inspiration”? An inspirational person is one who fills someone with the urge or ability to do something. You must be a leader, and you must love and care for others. So, this will begin a two-part series on those aspects of being an inspiration, starting with leadership.

You need leadership to “be an inspiration.” Now some of you may be thinking, “I don’t think I can be the inspiration because I’m just not a leader,” but it’s not hard to become a leader. Your actions and your words make you a leader if THEY are inspirational because they make people respect you and look up to you. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are a leader.” Leaders are needed to influence and inspire others, so leaders can’t just be like anybody else; they have to BE UNCOMMON. They have to be RARE! They have to be DIFFERENT . . . in order to stand out to others as inspiring. So if YOU want to be an inspiration, you can confidently be uncommon, rare, and different! YOU can be a leader!

We’ll look at the second aspect of being an inspiration to others (loving and caring for others) in our next blog.
